The Biotechnology Committee focuses on issues unique to prosecuting and litigating patents covering biotechnological inventions.  This area of intellectual property law continues to grow tremendously, as has the body of case law and guidance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in an attempt to guide practitioners in this highly technical and challenging field.

The purpose of the Biotechnology Committee is to inform its Committee members of the latest developments concerning biotechnology patent law, and to provide a forum for speakers and members to discuss these developments and their practical effect on biotechnology patent law practitioners.  The Biotechnology Committee presents seminars covering topics relevant to the practice of biotechnology law.  In the past, we have had speakers from the Patent and Trademark Office to discuss recent patent prosecution developments in areas such as gene therapy and bioinformatics, and organized panel discussions on post-grant proceeding trends with biotechnology/pharmaceutical patents.  We are always interested in new ideas for seminars and meetings.
