“Things Are Different Over There: Avoiding Misunderstandings and Pitfalls when Prosecuting Patents on Both Sides of the Pond”

Although the patent laws in the US and Europe share common concepts, implementation of those concepts often differ. These differences can and often do significantly impact prosecution outcomes and the scope of granted patents in Europe. Join us for a discussion on strategies for avoiding misunderstandings, miscommunication, and missed opportunities, recognizing and resolving some of the parallel issues early on, and maximizing value when prosecuting patents on both sides of the Pond.

Bio of speaker:

Yelena Morozova is a dual-qualified US patent attorney and European patent attorney working in London. Her practice before both the USPTO and the EPO has shaped her understanding of the different legal approaches employed in both patent offices.  Yelena focuses her practice on patent procurement and portfolio development in all fields of engineering on both sides of the Pond.
