The Copyright Law Committee takes a broad view of copyright issues to better inform its members. Accordingly, the Committee's attention extends beyond Title 17 Federal copyright and mask work protection to include preemption, as well as issues of rights of publicity/privacy and misappropriation - generally designated as falling within entertainment law. Similarly, the interface between trademark and copyright, and the relatively new application of the moral rights doctrine within the U.S., the law of trade secrets, software and design patent matters, and copyright licensing (e.g., shrink wrap licensing) are also addressed. Finally, in this age of information, the Committee takes pains to assure that issues are considered on a global basis.
The Committee presents three or four breakfast meetings each year. Suggestions for breakfast speakers are particularly welcome, as are non-Committee members.
