The Northeast Regional competition will be held at Suffolk University School of Law in Boston on March 23 to 25, 2018.

The success of this competition is entirely due to the generosity of volunteers who take time to grade briefs and hear oral arguments.

1. Brief Grader:
Each brief grader will receive at least 5 different briefs of either appellee or appellant briefs, along with a copy of the problem and a bench memo laying out the main arguments and points of law that should be covered in each side’s brief, and a grading rubric to assist with scoring.  Brief graders will have plenty of time to complete the grading process, as briefs will be distributed in early  February and brief scores will not be due back to us until March 92018.  The teams’ brief scores determine the seeding for the competition.

a.We have 12 teams this year and each brief is required to be scored by 3 judges

2.Competition Judge:
Each year, we need approximately *27* volunteers to serve on our three judge panels to cover the following arguments during the competition:

·Friday, March 23 at 4 pm – 9 judges

·Friday, March 23 at 6 pm(followed by a cocktail reception) – 9 judges

·Saturday, March 24 at noon (semi-finals) – 6 judges

 ·Sunday, March 25 at noon (finals) – 3 judges

Each judge will also receive a copy of the problem, a bench memo and sample questions for participants, as well as a scoring rubric.

Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering to help make this year's Northeast regional competition another success.
You can email Emma Hall or Carolina Säve to let us know your availability, especially if you can hear two arguments on Friday night.
